On a financed deal, the lender usually funds the store first. In return, the dealership has about 30 days to perfect the lien: get the lender recorded on the title.
Miss it, and the lender can make the store repurchase the contract. Money the store already received goes back out the door.
It rarely starts big. It starts with:
- A customer's tag that isn't ready in time, so they're calling the store, driving on an expired temp tag, and losing trust
- A lienholder address copied from memory
- A wrong ELT code
- A payoff sent short on per diem
- A rejected title application nobody followed up on
- A trade title that never showed up
A good title clerk doesn't make deals fund faster. A good title clerk makes sure the money the store was paid stays paid.
Who it's for
Title clerks and billers
- New to the desk and want to learn it right the first time
- Trained on the job and want the full picture
- Want a certificate of completion for your manager or r茅sum茅
- Prefer to learn in Spanish: every lesson is in Spanish too
Managers who train the desk (office managers, controllers, GMs, dealer principals)
- Want every new clerk trained to one standard, not by shadowing
- Want every lien deadline tracked and escalated before it's missed
- Have bilingual office staff
What changes at your desk
- Titles and packets accepted the first time
- Every funded deal tracked to a confirmed, recorded lien, not just "submitted"
- Payoffs calculated to the day, so trade liens release
- A 10-minute QC check before anything goes to the state
- Clean handoffs with F&I and accounting
- You know which deadline each mistake threatens, and what to work first

For managers: the math on one mistake
One lien that isn't recorded in time can mean repurchasing the whole contract. On a $35,000 contract, that's $35,000 of the store's cash tied up until it's fixed. The course costs $397.
| 聽 | Cost |
|---|---|
| One repurchased contract | The full contract amount |
| One rejected title | Re-work, a late fee where your state charges one, an expiring temp tag, and a customer calling |
| Title Desk Academy, per clerk | $397 founding price, one-time |
If the training prevents one repurchase, or a few rejected titles, it has paid for itself.
